From personal growth to landing a job, Bradley credits the World Games for his newfound confidence and success.

A Journey from Isolation to Confidence

Growing up, Bradley Stuart faced many challenges, including bullying and feeling isolated due to his intellectual disabilities.

“Without football, I wouldn’t be who I am today,” he says.

Discovering football gave him a sense of belonging and purpose. Competing at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 was a pivotal moment that boosted his confidence, both on and off the field. Scoring four goals in a match against the USA, Bradley had one of his proudest moments. His father, who also serves as his Special Olympics coach, recalls, “I was actually crying after he scored the fourth goal. It was a proud moment as both a coach and a dad.”

From World Games to the Workforce

Bradley’s growth didn’t stop at the football pitch. His experience in Berlin helped him develop social skills and gain the confidence needed to secure a job. Today, he works at Screwfix, a trade tools and accessories company.

“If I didn’t go to the World Games, I don’t think I’d have ever got a job,” Bradley admits.

His experience in the games made him more comfortable interacting with others, which has been key to his professional success.

Building a Brighter Future

Before the World Games, Bradley was hesitant and nervous, even opting out of the Opening Ceremony. However, once the competition started, he found his stride. Now, he’s socializing more, meeting new people, and continuing to build his confidence.

“His confidence has gone through the roof,” his dad shares proudly.
